“You hooked up with Trevor Shults!?!”

Nolan practically screamed the words as we walked across the quad from the library.

“Lower your fucking voice, Nole!”

I glanced around, paranoid about being overheard even though we were clearly alone.

“Have you lost your mind??” he pressed.

“No? Maybe? I don’t know!” I was grasping. “What can I say? It just happened. His dick was like Everest. It was…big. It was…there.”

“But you HATE him. And you’re investigating him!”

“I know,” I replied, resigned. His eyes bulged even bigger. “I know!”

He was right. It was probably a mistake. It was all a big mistake. But it had felt so good.

I tried a different tack.

“It’s all a part of the plan,” I offered.

“Sucking off your mortal enemy and the supposed leader of the secret society you’re trying to bring down is…strategic?”

“Yes?” I said, straining even myself to believe it.

Nolan looked like his head was about to explode.

“Just trust me,” I replied. “I know what I’m doing. I…discovered something.”

“That you have absolutely no judgment whatsoever?” Nolan started. “That you have unfathomably bad taste in men? That none of us should ever use a locker room towel again?”

“All the above,” I replied, suddenly chipper. He rolled his eyes. “And something else. Trevor had a tattoo.”

Nolan looked back unimpressed. “So? Even country club boys make mistakes.”

“No, it wasn’t just any tattoo. It was a…skull and crossbones tattoo.”

Nolan’s face slackened. “Seriously? Where?”

I turned to start walking again. “Doesn’t matter.”

Nolan stopped me in my tracks. “Where was it, Max?”

I tilted my head. “Mmmmm, kind of by his taint.”
